My little dragon slayer
Braving the rain and mud, we courageously made our way to the Renaissance Fest last Friday. Despite the constant drizzle and cold temps, we managed to have a good time. My son especially loved "balloon fencing." We walked, ate, petted animals, learned about knights, watched some jousting, rode on a war horse, and ate some more.

I love the Renaissance Festival! Three friends and I went out Saturday in costume and... despite the mud, rain, and cold... enjoyed ourselves immensely!

My kids were dressed up too. My son was dressed as a knight, but we were to call him "King Arthur" and my daughter was dressed as a princess (what else!). We had a good time, but it would've been nice not to have had to carry umbrellas the whole time. I hadn't been there in years (decades) and had only gone once previously. It was much bigger than I remember it being!
It's actually better to go on a cold, rainy day... or on Festival Friday. The venue can get very, very crowded!
We were there for Festival Friday since it was the only half-affordable day for a family to attend! It was pretty deserted by mid-afternoon because of the rain, with probably more Renaissance folks there than paying customers. Good thing though, we didn't have to wait in any lines for anything, but several booths were closed because the vendors just didn't show up.
That's the way it always is that day. The school buses leave mid-afternoon and all that's left are the folks who work there and all the patrons in costume. Very fun! But the poor vendors never make any money on that day, so they don't care for it much.
Ah, here's Bede-never missing an opportunity to talk Ren Fest! lol
Gosh, I can't believe how much Big Boy Red Ninja has grown since our museum trip! Look, he has to kneel! :-)

I think we made the few vendors we visited pretty happy...$20 for a "pet" plastic dragon. If my MIL hadn't have talked it up to my son, we never would've come home with it.
Cathy: BBRN is off the charts!!
