Snowy Weekend Kneeler Jeopardy

Yes, we have snow!! Bad news is we didn't turn the heat on at the cabin AND we haven't drained the water from the water heater and pipes. Bad combination. May have to run up there and close the place up. Brrrrr. At least the boat got brought in and stored in the garage a few weekends ago, and the dock and boat lift are out of the water. (We could've turned the heat on, but there isn't enough propane in the tank to last very long...OY! Always something!)

Have a blessed weekend!!!

Category: Conquerors and invaders

Known as the "Devil's Horsemen," these conquerers who had half the known world in their control during the 13th century, surprisingly set an example of religious tolerance not known in the medieval world.

St. Alex says, please place your answer in the form of a question in the combox, and say a few Hail Marys while you wait for the answer to be revealed.

Demerits for using Google and other sneaky searches. Educated guesses are welcome and encouraged. Good luck!!

It wasn't Attila and his Huns, was it? That really is a guess.

Who is the Moguls?
Totally a guess. I think sprachmeister may be right.

I stink at WKJ!-snowy or not!

I think you may want to run to the cabin. Supposed to be cold all week.

Who were the Ottomans? (I went out and bought an ottoman so I could elevate my feet...)

Both good guesses for "guesses"!! And both in the form of a question!! Nice.

Hmmm. I know in the TV version of Jeopardy you aren't penalized for a spelling mistake as long as it phonetically sounds correct, but Moguls and Mongols are different. However, it wouldn't be charitable to disqualify you when St. Alex knows what you meant...just like Padre Pio could read souls ;}

So, St. Alex declares that Cathy of Alex (no relation) is the winner of WKJ!!! Cath, if you want the winning ribbon, just clip it from a previous WKJ or I can send you one. St. Alex bestows it upon you in all its magnificent and esteemed glory!! Woo hoo!! (It may even be as cool as Father Erik's medal! You've got the ninja sword, now the medal, you just need some armor and a war horse! Yoo hoo, Vincenzo!!!)

Sorry AA. Your answer and mine crossed in cyber space. Hope you're enjoying your Ottoman though.

Snow!!

I'm crying. It's all too much. Thanks, Swissy!

Mum: Yep, sadly we already have an early snow. It pretty much melted by midday, but still...snow!

Cath: Not everyone wins at WKJ. And, you don't have to go all the way to Oslo to receive your award.

Congrats Cathy of Alex. As soon as I posted my answer I knew it was wrong. Of course the Huns weren't from Asia - there's a reason why Glasgow Rangers were nicknamed the Huns (through faulty history).

I s'pose it's too late to file a protest in this rigged game (St. Alex/Cathy of Alex; yup he could be her Dad!)

I went in yesterday morning before the question was posted and forgot to go back.

I'm sure I would have got it right.

Actually, all I could think of at first hand was Ghengis Khan.

But the Moguls were his desendents. So I should get Partial Credit and half of Cathy's prize:

Mughal is the Persian word for Mongol and was generally used to refer to the Central Asians who claimed descent from the Mongol warriors of Genghis Khan. The foundation for empire was established around 1504 by the Timurid prince Babur, a descendant of Genghis Khan and Timur, when he took control of Kabul and eastern regions of Khorasan controlling the fertile Sindh region and the lower valley of the Indus River.[2]

And I was a Persian linguist!!!

Ray: Sorry, as they say, a day late and a dollar short!!! You'll have to raid Cathy's place to get half of her prize.

This game is as rigged as the NPP.
