Ray passed this along.
Great news for those of you following my posts on the Gospel of St. Matthew or anyone interested in biblical studies, a Catholic Bible commentary compiled by the late Rev. Fr. George Leo Haydock, following the Douay-Rheims Bible (1859) is now online. You can find it here.
Most excellent!

Cool! I almost bought that bible a few months ago so that I could read the commentary.

Now that my hubby is taking grad classes at St. Thomas, I get to have him check out books for me which is really nice. I had checked out the Ignatius commentary on St. Matthew but it went back to the library a long time ago. Now that this commentary is online, I might just skip the Ignatius one. For me, reading the bible without the commentaries misses so much. It's great to have this available online!
Last night I saw an interesting documentary on EWTN:
Edge of Europe: Irish Monasteries
It will be repeated on 2/28 at 1:00 PM.
Thanks V. I'll have to check it out. Tonight, while everyone is watching the Oscars, I will be watching the last of three parts of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. I don't see many movies and haven't seen any of the ones nominated. In fact, I can't tell you the last time I was in a movie theatre!

Me: 2004. Your fish & chips pic below was driving me crazy. I didn't have fish, so I made fried chicken (breasts) in beer batter, w/ tartar sauce.
My New Testament professor, who is brilliant, by the way, is a huge fan of the Douey-Rheims Bible, and has checked out Hadock's commentary - and gave it a big thumbs -up.
Trust his wisdom on this. Really.
