What was unusual about the tunic that Jesus wore during His Passion? (No, it wasn't tie-dyed)

It ws seamless, woven in one piece.

In addition to being seamless, I expect that if the soldiers were casting lots over it it still must have been a fairly serviceable tunic.

In the synoptic gospels it is written that the cloak the soldiers had put on him whilst mocking him was later removed. John's gospel has the cloak at the scene of the crucifixion as well.
Only in Matthew's gospel is the soldier's cloak mentioned as "Scarlet" the others have it as purple. [Not that this matters so much - the particular color they are describing is that very dark red that looks virtually purple. Or a reddish purple if you will. A very expensive color to produce at that time, BTW.
You guys are way too smart! I hadn't known this until recently...I did know about the scarlet/purple coloring, but had previously just imagined it was beige.
Bonus points for getting this without any hints and for Karen's additional insight!
And wasn't a seamless garment the robe worn by a priest?
As for the colour differences in the Gospels-HA! Men wrote them! What do you expect? If they had ased one of the Mary's or Salome they would have got a precise colour definition. :)
Discussing this with some friends after Mass this morning, I was told that the tunic had been woven by His mother, Mary. I had not heard that before but it is certainly an interesting twist.
